Challenge
The Serbian IT sector continues to be the fastest growing sector of the economy. The Serbian Government invests in the digital transformation of the economy and introduces new digital public services for its citizens and business. However, growing digitalization also open the way for hackers and cyber-crime syndicates to proliferate their activities which could inflict both physical, financial, and reputational damages for public and private sector in the country.
Solution
In order to help counter the challenges of growing cyber threats in the country, NRD Cyber Security, in cooperation with United Nations Office for Project Services in Serbia (UNOPS), has performed an assessment of the resilience of cyber security ecosystem in Serbia focusing on 3 key elements:
- Strategic and operational assessment of Serbia’s institutional set-up and cybersecurity governance;
- Provision of legal advice on strengthening Serbia’s cybersecurity legal framework in line with the EU NIS Directive, with a focus on policy recommendations for the upcoming Strategy for Development of Information Security;
- Assessment of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) protection in the Republic of Serbia and provision of recommendations for the criteria of CII identification.
